CARERS ELEMENT QEURY was created by Lisa
Hi everyone I'm new to the site . I have recently moved in with my partner who receives UC, LCWRA and PIP. He did the change of circumstances and I created a UC account and our 2 accounts are now joined together. All the questions on the " to do List" have been answered except one question for me , " Health ", which I started but not finished yet, as I'm a little confused over it. It would appear I may be asked to get a fit note if I have filled in the health conditions. I ideally would want to qualify for the Carer's Element of UC for looking after him, but not sure if completing the "Health section would help or hinder the outcome, i:e: as in maybe not list any health conditions at all. I did some research online but it seems to be a rather gray area and ad my partner was already in LCWRA, and did not have to answer "Health" in his "To do List " . The situation feels extremely stressful, plus I have only just registered with a local Doctor after moving in. Does anyone have any clearer answers on this please.

Hi Lisa

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.

With a UC claim you can only have one LCWRA element, if you care for your partner and fit in with the requirements of caring, you could claim carers allowance, this would be deducted from your UC award £ for £ but you would get an additional element called Carer element worth an extra £201.68 per month.

As a Carer you do not have to be looking for work.

We would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Specialist; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies in your area advicelocal.uk
