Been on Universal Credit over 5 years - Sudden ESA Payment?

Hi,

We moved from income based ESA to Universal Credit in March 2020 as my wife (and carer/appointee) got a job. I'm in the LCWA group and it's been fine (other than bank statement interrogations).

This morning, we suddenly got a payment of £373 from ESA into my wife's bank account. My wife can't get past security for the ESA helpline, and Universal Credit have no idea what it can be. The one bit of information she got from ESA is apparently we're meant to get another payment in 2 weeks.

Anyone got any idea what could be going on? We're currently thinking it must be some sort of mistake, but is there another reason?

Thanks!

Hi Dannilion

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.

NS ESA is paid fortnightly, have you tried ESA enquiry line: 0800 169 0310.

You could ask your local Welfare Rights Organisation for help in solving the issue.
