DWP & accessibility needs

DWP & accessibility needs was created by Garth
In the process of applying for pip. I had someone to make the initial call for me and tell them that I couldn't open post nor receive calls, and for contact to come via email only. They haven't done this, as they have been attempting to ring me. How do I actually tell them that I need communication by email only? It looks like a call has to be made just to tell them this. There's no-one available to help for a while but I don't know how to explain my needs to the DWP on the phone (I have autism and go mute during calls unless I have it all written down beforehand). Is it definitely a phone call I have to do and not an email address listed somewhere that I've missed?

Hi Garth

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.

I am not aware of an email address to start of your claim for PIP, if you are unable to contact DWP yourself then you will need to have someone with you who will be able to do the talking although they will ask you to confirm details.

You could contact your local Welfare Rights Organisation; advicelocal.uk where they can take all your circumstances into consideration when giving you advice and even help start the process.
