hello and I am seeking advice on the above topic, at the moment I look after my husband for 35 + hours and receive carers allowance my husbands social worker has suggested that local authorities could also have a carer to come into the house and help out with my husbands needs, question:- if another outside carer did come in would this affect the current carers allowance we receive on our UC? [we had moved earlier this year from IR-ESA to UC], and would we need/required to inform the DWP of this second outside carer regardless.
not sure if this info needed but we have an adult son living in with us who has mental health issues and is also on UC [support group and doesnt need to look for work] and receives pip at high rate care & low mobility,
As long as you continue caring for 35 hours + per week then you will retain your right to Carer's Allowance. This applies even if you are getting assistance with caring.
