Reviews, bank statements GDPR was created by CuriousMind
This is a letter template I found, regarding GDPR complaince of bank statemnets requests and if relevant, the equalities act for people with health conditions. (not legal advice, make of it what you will) The intention is to reduce the invasive survelance of outgoings which may reveal personal private health data to third party processing etc..and discourage government overreach. Request for Reasonable Adjustment & Alternative Financial Evidence under the Equality Act 2010 and UK GDPR Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing regarding your requirement for full bank statements while reviewing my Universal Credit claim “to make sure my payments are correct”. I have been advised that no more than one month's financial information is legally required ‘to make sure payments are correct’ unless a fraud investigation has been opened—in which case formal notice must be given. No such notice has been received. I therefore raise concerns about the security and proportionality of this demand and assert my rights under the Equality Act two thousand ten, the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), and the Data Protection Act twenty eighteen. As a disabled person* I experience impacts on my conditions triggered by invasive document requests and deadlines. Requiring me to disclose all transactions in my bank account causes substantial distress and disadvantages me in accessing this process, compared to non-disabled applicants. Under sections twenty to twenty-one of the Equality Act I request a reasonable adjustment: acceptance of alternative evidence instead of unredacted statements. I can supply: - a confirmation letter from my bank verifying income and ownership; - statements redacted to show only benefits or income; and/or - a deposit summary covering the period. The DWP has contracted Capita plc to deliver AI tools including Cosain. Capita were fined fourteen million pounds by the ICO in twenty twenty-four for breaching data of six point six million people—information that included special-category data such as health records and safeguarding flags. Universal Credit claimants are especially vulnerable in this context. In light of that breach, I have a legitimate concern about providing my full financial data for unrestricted third-party processing. Under Article thirty-two of UK GDPR (Security of Processing) please confirm: 1. the lawful basis under Article six for processing and retaining my full financial or personal data; and 2. The technical and organisational measures in place to prevent any further data breaches or unauthorised access by contractors and the safeguards now in place against further third-party breaches. Until those assurances arrive I will submit the minimum necessary evidence for compliance, in line with Article five point one c (data minimisation). Please acknowledge receipt of this letter and confirm whether you will accept the alternative documentation offered. If the Department declines this request, kindly provide a written explanation, including the specific regulation or policy relied upon to refuse this adjustment. I hope by raising this I am also upholding a wider public duty: that GDPR rights and best practise are protected for every claimant. Yours faithfully,

Hi CuriousMind
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.
Thank you for your post, interesting letter, I note on the tenth line down it states: "As a disabled person* " but I cannot see what the asterisk refers too.
