UNEXPECTED PHONE CALL FOR PIP REVIEW

I received a phone call from someone saying she was calling to do a mandatory reconsideration of my pension credit, I was in a public place and asked her to call me later. When she called me again I pointed out that I had not asked for a mandatory reconsideration of anything she then said she was reviewing my PIP claim because I had been awarded Pension Credit.
she proceeded to ask for my personal information.
I told her that I didn't know who she was, I had not been due for a Light touch review until 2031 so I wanted some way to verify who she was. She said that she would post the forms to me instead.
I have not yet received any forms.
Has anyone else had such an unexpected phone call and does my pension credit affect my PIP claim?

Hi Fogg

I can understand why this sudden phone call unsettled you. Pension Credit does not affect your PIP claim, but someone who has been awarded PIP may be entitled to Pension Credits. This is what it says on the government website ...".If someone gets Attendance Allowance or the middle or highest rate care component of DLA, PIP, Scottish Adult Disability Payment or AFIP, they may be entitled to extra Pension Credit of £82.90."

You were right to be suspicious of the call. I can't tell you whether it is genuine, and someone has made an error, but you haven't put in for Mandatory Reconsideration, and you are not due a PIP review. Personally, I would give the DWP PIP helpline a call and ask if they have been trying to get in contact with you.
