I had a Work Capability Assessment for ESA by CAPITA 10 Days ago.
The assessor was extremely personable, but also very thorough during the 90 minute assessment.
At the beginning of the assessment, she told me that DWP make the decision.
However, at the end of the assessment, she told me she was placing me in the higher benefit Support Group, and named the specific health issues on which she was basing that.
I was very relieved.
However, 2 days later, I received an SMS text message from the DWP saying they had received the written report of my ESA assessment. "We will write to you once we've made a decision on your ESA."
Is this DWP message a formality, such that I can rely on the Assessor's indication that she placed my in the Support Group?
Or is it possible that I will not be put in that group?
I had absolutely no indication at all that the Assessor was anything but straight and honest.
But maybe the DWP do not always implment the Assessors' recommendations.
Any clarity would be appreciated.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Toblerone
That is a standard message you received. The assessor should not have worded it in that way. The assessor makes a recommendation, but it is the DWP who makes the decision. More often than not, they follow the recommendations - but there can be differences.
