Council tax support removed was created by Tess2012
Hello
When I started getting my private pension I was moved from IR ESA with all the disability premiums etc onto CB ESA amounting to £200 per month...I lost my prescriptions, dental, and glasses. But was still awarded council tax support and a discretionary hardship award so was paying £5 per month council tax. My pension recently increased by £30 per month so my CB ESA went down to £194 but this has pushed me to completely lose all concil tax support and discretionary hardship for council tax and I'm now being expected to pay £97 per month instead of £5 per month when my income has only risen by £30 per month. Surely this cant be right? I don't know where in supposed to pluck an extra £67 per month from when I was already struggling to make ends meet hence I qualified fir hardship assistance...this is putting me into desperately tight financial strain...I only get £1076 private pension and the £194 CB ESA top up so my mortgage. Bills food and all expenses come out of this......I haven't got £97 per month spare. Please ..any advice gratefully accepted...I'm worried sick.

Thanks

Tess

Hi Tess2012

This is something I have raised on Rightsnet with other advisers.

Some Councils have gone " on the make " with UC Migration as you can see from the links. People are now waking up to this and legal challenges have started.
