Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit review

Hi everyone,

I’m disabled with Cauda Equina Syndrome (an injury at the bottom of the spinal cord that impacts mobility, continence and other things). This happened following a slip on a work site visit back in 2012.

I’ve been claiming IIDB since about 2014, and had 3 quick reviews back then followed by one that set my benefit at 30% disablement, for a lengthy period that is due to end autumn 2026.

I received a letter on Monday asking me to go to an in person assessment on Feb 6th. I have since called and explained a) that is too short notice to gather any evidence and b) I would prefer a home visit as recovering from surgery.
They agreed and now my visit at home is 12th Feb and this will, I’ve been assured, an actual doctor.

I would really appreciate any advice on what to expect for the examination. It has been so long since my last one, I can’t remember a thing. I am more disabled than I was back then, but in all honesty didn’t update them as I just did not want to rock the boat (as I also claim ESA and PIP -which is also due for renewal this November).

I am a member but couldn’t see any IIDB guides.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Fmc223

I'm sorry, but your question is outside the scope of this forum. We don't cover IIDB, so I can't tell you what to expect at the face-to-face assessment. I hope another member may be able to tell you.
