I'm afraid there is no protection moving from DLA to PIP. There are many people who were given lifetime awards for DLA (and that is one of the reasons why they introduced PIP). Although there are some overlaps between DLA and PIP - the overall criteria are different - so claimants may have had the higher award DLA, but there is no guarantee that they will be given an enhanced award for PIP, because it is not an exact equivalent. I don't say that to frighten you - because obviously some people do get enhanced and find they then have an improved award.
