PIP review with added cancer treatment

Hi, I have been on PIP (and previously DLA) for many years, for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My last award for PIP was for the higher rates for both care and mobility.

I have received an AR1 PIP review form. My Chronic Fatigue symptoms are about the same as at my last review, so am trying to fit in previous answers to the new boxes.

However, I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, and am currently receiving treatment. I have been given an extension for the form until after my 2nd surgery coming up soon.

I am struggling to work out how to respond to the questions - should I describe my difficulties and care needs as they were BEFORE cancer treatment. Or do I add information about how the treatment has already affected me? And what about the effects of further treatment later this year?

As I have already been on higher rates, I don't think I'd qualify for any extra points at the moment. It would just seem a bit odd not to mention how I'm currently affected.

Grateful for suggestions! Many thanks :)

Hi earwigs

I'm sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis. You should write about your difficulties before the cancer and how they have increased since being diagnosed. You can say that your treatment will be ongoing, and you expect to get worse, but you can't tell them about the 'effects' of treatment later in the year, because at this stage you can't quantify it. Things could be better than expected or worse than expected. (Sorry - I am not trying to be pessimistic or insensitive).
