severe Blepharospasm and New Style ESA was created by John c
Hi everybody. I wonder if anyone could give me some advice? This morning I had my telephone assessment for New Style ESA. I am 8 months on NS ESA. I was signed off with depression and anxiety and due to many other conditions I wasnt able to stay in my job of many years. I retire next year and am 66 years old. The assessor was really helpfull and after an hour I mentioned that I have Focal Dystonia and have to have a dozen Botox jabs arround my eyes every six weeks. He then told me that unfortunately he would have to end the assessment as the Focal Dystonia would have to be assessed by a specialist doctor. I just received a call booking a telephone assessment for next week with a doctor. The botox injections have been life changing but I still walk into people and things daily or trip over kerbs and have hurt myself a number of times. Falling over is dangerous for me as I have severe Osteoporosis Im a bit confused because the doctor is not able to physically examine me and why did the assessor have to rip up the assement this morning. Im wondering if the Blepharospasm will give me enough points for the support group otherwise NS ESA will end in 4 months. Thank you

Hi John c
I'm assuming the assessor didn't have enough knowledge of Blepharospasm and the implications which I understand is frustrating for you, but it's better that you are seen by someone who has some understanding when assessing you than someone making assumptions about what you can or can't do - especially as they are not thinking about it alone, but need to consider your severe osteporosis and other conditions.. I can't say whether the Blepharospasm will give you enough points for the support group, because they will be judging your condition based on a picture rather than examining a single thing.
