Carpal tunnel syndrome was created by Kelz7683
Hi,
I am new to this website although I have been claiming for a while now. I included carpal tunnel syndrome on my last assessment as I was waiting to have surgery for my carpal tunnel in my right wrist. I eventually had it but i had been told I would need my left wrist doing eventually.
I am now on the waiting list to have my left wrist done albeit I got lost in the system but I am also going back to clinic regarding potential surgery in my right wrist again.
I was wondering if because carpal tunnel can be operated on if this would go against my claim although I have other health problems that are gradually getting worse. I just didn’t know if it was worth the hassle of writing it down, although my right wrist is much weaker than before my first operation and I may need another.
Thankyou in advance if you could help me.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Kelz7683
It won't "go against your claim". Carpal tunnel syndrome is taken seriously, but as you say the majority of times people recover from it after surgery. If it were the only issue you had, you would expect it to have an impact on the length of the award you could potentially be offered, as the DWP would assume that this is not a long-term issue. However, you say in your post that you have other health problems, which are getting worse, and therefore, your carpal tunnel issues are just a small part of the whole picture, which is what the DWP will be looking at.
