UC overpayment was created by leapoffaith
Hi..
I hope you may be able to advise me.. I've received an overpayment in my universal credit account.. I was migrated from esa support group in november 2025 & my payments have been steady since then.. I was expecting the payments to be different due to the april yearly uprates but I was expecting it to be a lowering of the transitional protection with the overall amount being the same.. I am also now receiving new style esa.. As with others I thought I was income related esa but turns out also had some contributory.. My UC standard amount hasn't changed yet due to month in arrears.. My payments have been UC minus Esa but this month only £400.47 has been taken from esa instead of £609.05 meaning i've received £ 208.58 extra.. I'm hoping you may understand why or advise me on what I should do please..

Best wishes & thankyou for all you do..

Hi leapoffaith

I think the best course of action would be to send a UC Journal message. Choose as recipient A Payment which means your message will go to the UC Case Manager.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi ,

We had an UC overpayment recently, ie two payments in March.

I wanted an explanation. I posted a message on UCJ to payments and got a reply that partially answered the question, in that DWP CM confirmed the date the additional bank credit was made.

I ended up calling UC and the advisor looked into it and provided clarity.

My experience has been hit and miss with UCJ responses.

Good Luck
