PIP supporting evidence was created by olly349
Hi, I am currently completing a PIP AR1 form. I met my social worker who is going to write a supporting letter for me. I have an appointment with my doctor on wednesday. I wanted to ask you if it is likely that my doctor will be able to write me a supporting letter and whether I should ask for this when I go in on wednesday? Could you advise me on what I should say to my doctor and what sort of information I should be looking to obtain from them to go with my AR1 form? Are there any other people I should be looking to approach for supporting evidence? Many thanks for your advice.

Hi olly349
You need to assume that your GP does not know anything about PIP. The GP is focused on remission/getting you better.
So you should pinpoint which descriptors are generating the points and then write down the corresponding limitations. Write this out in the third person eg " olly349 can at most walk 75m at one time ". When you have finished the list of restrictions leave a space for the GP's signature.
You can also ask other people such as friends, relatives and neighbours to write a note detailing your health restrictions. Bear in mind that it is " points make prizes ", so try and get the person to write something relevant to the PIP descriptors eg saying " cannot grip a knife " rather than " has arthritis in the hands ".
Let us know how you get on.
