choping and changing what I am owed then saying I am overpaid was created by Tiff
Hello can anyone help me,
I have been claiming UC since October 2025 I had been getting approx £1.26 I was also told to apply for ESA from November 2025. I have been given wrong information since October 2025 and they really messed my claim up as I had to leave work due to a very bad injury. I have been waiting for decisions in payments for nearly 7 months and When I rang universal credit In April I got a payment from them of £300 with no explanation to what the payment was so I queried it and then twi weeks later they told me they had overpaid me as I was getting a small payment from ESA this ESA payment was a assessment payment until they had processed my claim and assessed me fully which UC were aware that I was in receipt of this two weekly payment from ESA. Then 1 week ago I had another UC payment and I queried it and was told by the Telephone UC advisor that this was an underpayment and that I would receive a letter telling me about this and I did get a letter through the post. Today I have found out UC have made so many mistakes I don't know what is truth anymore. I have a letter saying UC have underpaid me and now on my journal UC tell me they have overpaid me I owed UC money and they have changed all the amounts on my recently change payment statements to fit their calculations. They will not call me to explain anything in detail, I have explained on a recent call to the Universal credit to ask what my payments will be and I asked for someone to call me as I have a learning disability dyslexia and cannot read or spell very well and they told me that someone would call me but on my journal they are refusing to call me and tell me to READ my journal, I have had to get help from a relative to write this to you today. They keep telling me that I have been underpaid and now tell me I have been overpaid. I don't know what is true anymore. I have been waiting for a proper payment for near 7 months and it has caused so much stress UC chopping and changing what I am owed and now they owe them, this is certainly not a way to treat a human being. It is not my fault that they cannot calculate correctly and keep making mistakes this is causing me to be in debt! UC DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! I don't know what I can afford and what I can't afford as they keep changing the payment statements. How can anyone live like this? I want to make a formal complaint about this and this mess to be escalated! PLEASE HELP

Hi Tiff
It sounds like a complicated issue and I think you need some help. Could you or your relative contact a Welfare Advice agency who could act as an advocate for you.? Do you have a local branch of Citizens Advice or Community Money Advice who could assist you with this? Do you need help in locating one?
