Hi David
So...aren't people still on New Style ESA?
This is what happened to me...I had an inheritance and I came off ESA, and then they contacted me to say I was on contributory ESA (even tho I still had some income based to top it up), so I was then put back on it...albeit the New Stytle ESA...

The only ESA that remains is New Style ESA. Income Based ESA officially ended at the end of March this year. NS ESA is contributions based.
