Help.. my 20 year old son applied for PIP 3 months ago due to being diagnosed with ADHD/Bipolar with my 25 year old daughter filling in his claim form for him with the help of benefitsandwork.co.uk he received a appointment for a telephone assessment appointment but never told myself or my daughter about it and he went ahead and done the assessment interview on his own. He recorded the interview on his phone which is 1hr 25mins long and gave ghe recording to my daughter. We listened to the full interview last night and I can only describe it as a "Disaster"... it couldn't possibly have been worse than how he answered. I was crawling down my seat on the settee listening and quickly realised he will have scored ZERO points... he is completely incapable of being interviewed and should never have done this interview... is there anything I can do to help him?... what is the way forward for him financially now? Will they keep his details to use against him for life?

I expect it will be quite a long process to sort this out but it definitely won't be held against him " for life".
The problem is that the law regarding mental capacity is quite nebulous. The DWP expect someone lacking mental capacity re a Benefits claim to have an Appointee. However a claimant can lack mental capacity at an instance of time and not have an Appointee.
Firstly you need to phone PIP and ask for a copy of the PA4 which is the Assessor's report.
If this is negative as you expect you need written evidence of your son's mental state. Bipolar disorder is notorious for being a fluctuating condition. You need something in writing from a professional such as a Social Worker, Support Worker, Peer Support Worker or CPN ( community psychiatric nurse ) detailing your son's mental short comings.
When you have a negative PIP decision you firstly have to request a MR ( Mandatory Reconsideration ) and if this is also negative you will need to complete the paperwork for an appeal tribunal.
