ESA failed medical was created by kathleen
When I failed my medical for ESA I got a letter telling me I scored 6 points and to take this information with me if I were to sign for work. I thought any less than 15 points didnt count also if I score 15 points what then decides what group I go into

Hi Kathleen
You have to score 15 points to get into the Work-Related Activities group. You have to pass an additional (and much harder test) to get into the Support group.
I would guess you were told to inform JCP about the 6 points you scored so they can take you disability into consideration if you were going to sign on for work.
Kind regards
Derek

My husband has just been for an assessment, got 30 points and told he is in the work related activities group. He did not have an additional test and has not been told he will need one - I am so confused by the whole thing.

What is the additional test ? How many points do you need to go straight into the support group?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Sorry to confuse you Diane. The ESA medicals are a two-in-one test. First you get tested to see if you have limited capacity for work. If you pass this test you get assessed for limited capacity for work-related activities. You have to pass this second test to get placed into the support group and it is all carried out within the same medical. This should not be confused with the Work-Focused Health-Related Assessment which is or was a second medical.

No number of points can get you into the support group. You have to pass the second LCWRA test. How many points do you need to go straight into the support group?
