BF85A change of circumstances & validation form was created by axel71
Hi
I received a BF85A. I am receiving Income Support, it says it includes SDA payed as part of it.
I dont know to to refer to it in the section on the form that asks what benefits I'm receiving and the payment amount(s).
Please can anyone help advise on how best to refer to the name the benefit(s) and amounts I'm receiving?
Do I need to list SDA and Income support separately, with separate benefit amounts, or as income support with SDA and list the total amount, which is £165.70 a week ?
Secondly there's a validation form included, asking me to state contact details and the nature of my incapacity. I have both physical and mental illnesses, and am prone to self injury. Do I need to state exactly what my doctor stated on the last sick note they made 5 years ago before he signed me off permanently? And if I dont state my incapacity exactly with the info they were last given, could it trigger a review? Many thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

As Moderators our area of expertise is in relation to disability living allowance, attendance allowance, the personal capability assessment used in connection with incapacity benefits and the work capability assessment used in connection with employment and support allowance. So those are the only subjects on which we can provide reliable information.
Unfortunately, you also need to bear in mind that boards like this can never provide advice to individual claimants about their specific circumstances, all we can offer is general information about how the system works.
This is because there are huge range of factors which could affect your eligibility and it’s not possible or advisable for you to disclose that information on a public forum or for us to ask you the kind of questions that would be required.
We understand that this can be frustrating and that it’s sometimes a question of judgement about the degree to which a question is specific to your claim or more general in nature. But, for our sake and your own it is important that we do our best to stick to giving information rather than advice.
So, for advice about a specific benefit problem you need to contact an advice agency if at all possible.
If you need specific benefits advice, you can download our 12 page guide to getting help with your benefits.
Alternatively, try the agencies below.
Community Legal Advice helpline 0845 345 4 345 can offer free advice on a range of subjects, including welfare benefits, if you are eligible for Legal Help. More details from Community Legal Advice.
The 'find an adviser' service is available HERE.

Thanks I understand. Circumstances not changed and welfare appointment misses deadline to return it. I keep try find someone to fill it in.
Has anyone else received the separate validation form asking to state nature of incapacity?
May I ask on general info is the term I.S payed on grounds of sickness the same as I.S payed with SDA or IB?

So if you are receiving an IS top up to your SDA, it should be because of low income.
You should receive an annual statement of your payments from the DWP, late April / early May, this should explain what you are getting and the relevant amounts.
Hope this explains it.

IS because of Disability (sickness), IB, and SDA are all mutually exclusive incapacity benefits. Thanks I understand. Circumstances not changed and welfare appointment misses deadline to return it. I keep try find someone to fill it in.
