DLA Appeal....help please was created by sjr
Hello, I am currently in receipt of DLA for Sjogrens Syndrome and depression, my current claim ends in November so I reclaimed, but this has come back saying I am no longer entitled to either component (I currently get low rate on both components). The reason they ahve given me is that :
Mobility:
I need help for comfort and reassurance but i DONT need help: to avoid danger or with asking or following directions.
Care:
Although I have difficulty, I dont need help to use a cooker, use kitchen tools or carry and lift safely.

Can anyone please let me know how I should "word" the appeal form appropriately, thank you

Although we cannot give individual advice, it is acceptable on the GL24 Appeal form to write something like, I believe I am entitled to the Mobility Component of DLA because xxxxxxxx (then explain your needs in relation to the relevant component). Repeat this for the care component.

If you have any recent evidence this can be sent in to help support your needs. If you are hoping to obtain further evidence from such as a doctor, carer,Physio, Occupational Therapist etc, explain you will send in further evidence later.

Pete

There is a guide on DLA appeals in the members section. See DLA Resources

However, if possible, it's best if you can get 'face to face' advice from an adviser experienced in DLA claims and appeals. Try Where to get legal advice

Good luck.

PLEASE READ THE SPOTLIGHTS AREA OF THE FORUM REGULARLY, OTHERWISE YOU MAY MISS OUT ON IMPORTANT INFORMATION. Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
