What's the difference between ESA85 and ESA85a

I had an assessment last month, and I asked for my paperwork. I received an ESA85 and an ESA85a. I thought you got an 85 if you had an assessment and an 85a if you didn't? So why did I get both? I also asked for an ESA85s but they never sent it, perhaps one wasn't produced? And I also asked for an ESA65 but was told you only get one of them if you have an assessment and therefore I am not entitled to it! The fact is that I did have an assessment (my support worker was there too), so am I due a 65 or not? Confused!

i thought the ESA85a was if you did NOT have a medical & the ESA85 was if you DID have a medical. i dont know what the ESA85s is for.

I was also told i did not have a ESA65 as i was not point scored. i sent a complaint letter asking if i was not point scored was my ESA50 then dissregarded? & as i was not exempt, then was i placed into WRAG on the exceptional circumstances rule?

im also confused & still waiting a reply

Hi,

The situation with ESA forms is the subject of an ongoing discussion in the Moderators only forum as there does seem general confusion about the matter.

Hopefully a Freedom of Info request will shortly be submitted by B&W to clarify the situation.

This was in general terms what I was asking yesterday.

So if I request an ESA65 and an ESA85 and an ESA85a to cover all bases...that should cover everything?

Despite it not being clear - and the mods not being quite sure - which document is for what exactly, if you see what I mean.

Hi,

Until such time as we ascertain under which circumstances the relevant forms are issued, asking for an ESA65 and an ESA85 and an ESA85a should suffice however personally I would in addition to requesting these numbered forms also ask for a copy of all documentation in relation to the claim.

Although you may receive a copy of documents you already have by doing this, it is probably better to have too many than too little.
