WRAG was created by littlewitch
I have been put into WRAG group.
I am unable to work or go into job centre,
I sent out migration form having been on long term sick (approx 18 years), also including 4 yr old last doctors letter(stating that it still applied)
and personal handwritten letter describing my symptoms and limitations.
i wasnt called in for medical at all and current gp doctor not contacted to my knowledge.
have asked for and received report of findings and decision.
report states 'will be able to work within 12 months'
assessed by some foreign sounding nurse. she obviously didnt read my letter at all, or could never have put me into WRAG.
have booked CAB appt to discuss but I dont know what else to do,. since I cannot go to any job centre interview or discussion. I am unable to travel, due to incontinence which i find embarrassing, and also physical disability (joint pain causing limited mobility and occurence of bowel incontinence)
also post traumatic stress disorder and communication problems (cannot say autism as not diagnosed due to inability to explain symptoms to doctor)
I am not on any hospital or doctors 'radar' as I am unable to communicate my needs with any professional types. I have tried and failed in the past. so I have no support.dont know what I must do, but know I cannot sit 6 times every year and be judged by some moron who wants to force me to work.. when I cannot and never will be able to.
can I find someone to come with me who wont judge me, but will try to listen to me and support? I have no family or friends as cannot communicate properly and people get the wrong idea.

Hi LW,

The first thing to consider is, do you qualfy for the Support Group, (SG). See here. :

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?func=vie...mit=6&start=12#71528

If after reading the guide you feel that you should be in the SG, you may then wish to appeal. See here. :

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?func=vie...id=10&id=70444#70446

And here regarding any risk involved. :

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/faq/general#risk

It is possible to have a WFI defered, or have it done over the phone, or even a home visit.

You can request this, but the Job Centre Plus do not have to comply with said request.

You are allowed to be accompanied at a WFI.

Once you have read all the information above, you may wish to discuss it at your CAB appointment.

Please be aware, that if you wish to appeal, you only have one month from the date of the WRAG decision on the ESA award letter that you have received.

It is possible to gain SG status without being on meds or without being under a doctor etc. See here. :

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?func=vie...id=10&id=73088#73088

Having read the above, if you then have any further questions, please come back to the forum.

Let us know how you get on at the CAB.

cheers

hi there
the problem is, I will not attend a work focused interview, because I am not able to work.
the interviewer will be judging me whent hey dont know me and havent been there when I have been in pain, or abused or any of the events which make me the way I am,
I am not prepared to be judged and humilated by such a person, nor am I prepared to disclose personal information which I find embarrassing to a stranger who will not understand anyway.
I should have been in support group because I meet at least 2 of requirements
incontinence issues and risk to self/other people if forced to work.
also the exception rules as I cannot cope with being with people, I cannot socialise with or trust others, nor can I make myself understood. this puts me at risk.
I therefore need someone who will advocate for me, and it cant be a 'mental health worker' as I have been down that route before and these people were of no help to me, as they had never come accross anyone with my issues, and I was unable to explain myself to them

hello

maybe contact your local social work dept, thats where my welfare officer is or they could point you in the right direction for advocacy.

if you dont go to the WFI you may lose your benefit. why not telephone them & ask for a home visit or telephone interview. if your unablee to expalin yourself verbally why not put what you have to say in writing & post it to the jobcentre?

good luck

martin

Hi LW,

Please be aware that if you fail to attend a WFI, your benefit may be sanctioned.

However, this cannot be done automatically, and can only be done by a DWP Decision Maker, after investigation of your reasons for non attendance.

See 53021 onwards of the decision makers guide with regards to WFI's, here. :

www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/dmgch53.pdf

You must be given 7 days notice also for a WFI appointment.

I really would discuss this with CAB.

cheers

thanx for replies
I did used to have a social worker two times before.
I had a male one when I was homeless in my early 20s, he tried to pick me up!
then I has a woman one about 7 years ago. She talked me into taking a council flat in a crime ridden area full of dodgy single refugee blokes, knowing my past history, and I ended up not being able to stay there due to constant harrassment and walking the streets for 2 years until I got a move and she came with me for a 'free bus pass' interview at the council, and sat their painting her nails during the interview and left me to do all the talking,
so no I have no faith in these people, who either cant be bothered to support me, or want to take advantage of me.
I really cant go to an interview, because the person there will only see me as a waste of space and try to force me into a job, which I would frankly rather die than take. If i go into an interview, with the idea in my head that this interviewer is only 'doing their job which is to force me into work' and doesnt give a fig about me, my health or my dogs (who I wont be separated from) or what I have been through, I will not be able to even have a conversation with them. this is the truth.
