DLA advise was created by TK
I am struggling to fill in my dla claim form even with using your Guides from the members area - especially the How often and How long each time? columns.
Does this mean How many times during every day/night or How many times in the week? PLEASE HELP.My local CAB does not have the funding to help filling in the forms and i cannot find anywhere local who can help.
Alternatively can i please speak to someone at your end very briefly please.

It means the amount of care you need on a daily basis it terms of help required either during the day and/or at night, and the time it takes each time care is given. e.g. 30 minutes 4 times during the day and/or 15 minutes, 3 times during the night. Note, these are only given as an example. You need to state your personal care needs on the claim form.

You have to show that you 'reasonably' need care, not 'medically'. So if someone reasonably needs care, but doesn't actually receive it, they can still qualify for the care component. This helps people living alone with no carers to qualify for DLA care component.

I'm sorry but all moderators work from home on a voluntary basis, and all have chronic ill health/disability themselves, so we cannot offer advice by telephone, only here in the forum.

See this link for case law on care needs.Paragraphs Chapter 3 Care Needs noting paragraphs 3.3 to 3.3.7.

There is also a a lot of information on case law in the members only area HERE and scroll down to DLA Appeals - and the case law guides are there.

PLEASE READ THE SPOTLIGHTS AREA OF THE FORUM REGULARLY, OTHERWISE YOU MAY MISS OUT ON IMPORTANT INFORMATION. Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi TK, as I have said previously, it is best to fill out the forms and answer the questions in as much detail as if you were trying to explain it to a 7 or 8 year old, as the "decision makers" intelligence is not much above that age of understanding.Even send in extra pages if needed, leave nothing out and never assume anything ...good luck!!
