Hi J53,
It is not possible to say, from a Moderators viewpoint why any particular claimant's Income Support may be reviewed.
A number of different benefits are reviewed at random, this could be done by the Benefits Integrity Team.
A friend of mine recently received a review form out of the blue, filled it in and returned it by the deadline given and has heard no more about it.
They can not alter your IS unless your circumstances have changed.

You don't say whether your savings exceeded the £6000 limit or the £16,000 one, but in both cases I would advise you to get face to face advice regarding this matter. In the case of the former there may have been an over payment of benefit, and in the case of the latter you may not have been entited at all.
Where to get advice?
or try Googling "welfare advice" with your town or county.

Even though your post is on the same subject as the original post, can I ask you to start a new thread in future. This thread is now 9 months old, and it is possible that the information it contains could now be out of date, leading to incorrect assumptions by those reading it and treating it as current.Hi, I have just received one of these, bit concerned as my savings went above as i was saving up for a car which i have now purchased, but they ask for six months details, they also ask if you have been abroad, But I have to go to convalesce.

I had my case reviewed on account of an malicious and false report although it took them very many months to get around to it.
