Result Of IB to ESA (Support Group) was created by Jasmine3234
I was ovbiously relieved to get the phone call to tell me I was being moved from IB to the Support Group of ESA.
However the person who called me stated that this was for 6 months only and then I would have to be reviewed again.
I have since read some posts from moderators who said this is only a guide and may not actually happen so quickly? Can anyone give me more guidance for this?
Also, I phoned DWP for a copy of the decision maker's records etc.......... the man I spoke to asked if I wanted to appeal (I said no) and he said they would be with me early this week. Can I expect the full paperwork, or do I have to request this in writing? (He said I didnt)

Hi J3234,
You will only be sure what award of ESA you have received (SG or WRAG) once you receive the ESA Awards Decision Letter.
However, this will not tell you the length of the award, but will tell you which group you have been placed in.
The only way you will be sure of the length of your award, is to obtain the ESA85 if you had a medical, or the ESA85A if you didn't.
Either of these will include your "prognosis" (recommended length of award before re-assessment).
Once you receive the ESA Awards Decision Letter, you will have 1 month from the date of the letter to appeal the decision if you need to.

ESA medical – what forms to ask for?
How often will I be reviewed
There is much misinformation being given over the phone, it is best to wait for written confirmation regarding your ESA award.

Hi J3234,
I think our posts crossed.
There will always be a variable delay in replying to members posts, depending on how many Mods are online, etc, etc.
I hope I have now answered your query.
Cheers

Thank you Bro58
I should have stated that I have had the paperwork stating I am in the Support Group. It doesnt give any timeframe
at all.(Only the phone call said 6 months)
So, my question is I have requested the relevant paperwork over the phone. Is this sufficient?
Also...as I said before there have been certain posts relating to the timeframe set down by DWP and isnt always adhered to......... is this correct?

It looks very much to me that they make it up as they go along.
Although everything is meant to be adhered to by internal 'party lines' so to speak, I believe interpretation seems to be up to the induvidual who deals with the claim.
In other words 'anything goes'.
