Can anyone advise please.

When a specialist consultant writes his report on the patient, does he need to include in the report if the patient should be in the "Support Group" and is not fit to attend medicals or should he just state that the patient is unfit for any kind of work due to disabilities and a medical would cause unecessary stress.

Radhika.

Wherever possible Health Care Professionals providing you with reports should be asked to make there comments with reference to the ESA descriptors for the WRAG and/or Support Group.

So if your Consultant believes your husband should be in the SG, then they should say why, not adding an explanation will dimish the impact of the report, as it will be asssumed that they do not know the criteria and that therefore the statement is simply for effect.

As a general rule, stating that a claimant is unable to do any kind of work, carries little weight with ATOS and the DWP.

Hello Gordon,

Collected GP's Report and have studied it in line with ESA form. :cheer:

GP in many areas has stated husband should be in S/G backing it up by reasons.IE husband should be in S/G due to cannot mobolise more than 50 metres unaided and cannot propel a manual whhelchair due to"
" He even went as far as quoting D/M's decision"
" in putting husband into S/G and gave reasons why he should remain in S/G and why it should be a long term award!!!! :)
He finished off report by clearly staing why husband is unfit to work now or in the near future. :woohoo:

GP also gave all copies of relevant reports to send to Atos from treating consultants to back up his report :P

I just wanted to thank all you moderators for your invaluable advise as i could not have explained all this to GP without your input.

Now all i have to do is fill out ESA50 for husbands reassessment, but would like to add that the strong report GP has written with you guys help will definately help husbands case to remain in S/G.

Once again thanks a million :cheer:

Radhika.
