I filled out my ESA50 and sent it to them by their cut off date which was 9th Jul, I think it must have got there about the 4th. On the 17th Jul I got a call from the DWP saying that i didn't need a medical and I won't be reviewed til Jan 2014 and a letter was in the post. Two days later I received my letter stating that I was going over to ESA as from the 7th Aug till Nov 2012. Completely baffled still such is life. Then I read further and was told I was to be put in the WRAG, so I got on to my RBL/CAB adviser and told them I was going to appeal as I think I should be in the SG. As I am 70% disabled for a War Pension and claim WPUMSUP, and my ESA of £28.33p per week is my contributions based additional pension. So stand by for fun and games. However I least I didn't get called for medical. The other things was I am now being paid fortnightly instead of every 28 days! I thought it would be cheaper of 1 payment every 28 days. The mind boggles.
It's possible that the date on the letter (Nov 2012) just refers to the end of their administration year and not your review date. We're all baffled as to why they use these dates but many claimants are told what their payments will be until Nov/Dec regardless of their review date.
Sadly, when Professor Malcolm Harrington recommended that the DWP should use the phone more to communicate with claimants; he made no recommendation that this verbal communication should be in any way consistent with their written communication - which only adds to the confusion!
