Contribution Based ESA is taxable whether you are in the Support Group or the WRAG.Please help/it has by chance just come to my attention that it would appear that if one gets ESA contributory benefit and is in support group it has become/is taxable? I have not had any contact with tax dept in years being on Incapacity. I do not think or am aware of a tax code I would have. I know the single person ESA amount os belwo tax threashold - so if one only has that and some DLA how does the tax side of it work Do they contact you/give you code and also will the PIP be a taxable benefit Apples6 and if you have any information thanks
DLA and its replacement PIP are not means tested or taxable.
I hope you'll understand but we cannot comment whether you will be liable to pay tax.

Does one get contacted automatically by Tax Dept to say the ESA is taxable
(whereas the Incap. Benefit as before 1995 was not)
Does one get a Tax Code?
The last one I had was decades ago
Do you know if PIP will all count as taxable o0r is that to be decided
thanks

I can only refer to my experience, the DWP notified HMRC about my benefits and they then issued me a tax code.
PIP will not be taxable.
