PLACED IN SUPPORT GROUP WITHOUT MEDICAL

I'm posting on behalf of my husband. He received the dreaded brown envelope this morning after a 3 month wait to see whether he would be moved from IB to ESA. The good news is that he has been placed in the support group without a medical and also like other posts the letter states it is only for 3 months from September 2012 to November 2012. Don't know what the DWP are doing there!!
Other good news is that about 6 weeks ago we received a letter from the DWP stating that his DLA had been changed from lower rate care to high rate mobility and middle rate care. This was backdated to February 2012 after I filled out a new form asking them to look at it again.
Thanks to everyone on the team at Benefits and Work. I know without a doubt that it would have been more of an uphill battle without all the help on the site. It did help that my husband has about 15 medical conditions but it was still a worry.
Thanks again to everyone. It is worth every penny spent on the subscription. To others still battling - don't give up!

Hi j,
That's great news regarding your husband's ESA and DLA.
Thanks for letting us know, and for your positive comments.
The November 2012 date that you mention, is not the length of the SG ESA award but is merely used by the DWP for admin purposes.
If you wish to find out the expected length of the SG award, you will need to request copy of the ESA85A medical report, which will contain the ATOS HCP's "prognosis", (recommended length of award before re-assessment).

Congratulations on the award.
You should be able to find out when he will be re-assessesd by requesting his ESA85A medical report from the DWP, the prognosis is usually used to set the date.
