Hi Mrs HB,
I rather suspect that Denise has given up on the current information on PIP made available by the DWP, some of which is contradictory or misleading to say the least.
I doubt if the Sec of State for Work & Pensions, Ian Duncan Smith knows whether or not those over 65 years of age currently on DLA will at some point in the future be transferred onto PIP. The current electorate has over 30% of pensioners 65 years and over, who could bring any Government down, and Cameron & Clegg are aware of this.
As you're aware, currently the DWP have said those over 65 years of age will remain on DLA, but as Gordon pointed out the Government have stated that they need to see how the transition for those of working age (16-64) goes before making any final decisions on scrapping DLA for those 65 years and over and making them claim PIP.
Regretfully, none of us has a crystal ball so we cannot look into the future. It also has to be remembered that Universal Credit is due to be introduced next year which will replace in the region of 42 different benefits. How the Government expect DWP staff to cope with ESA, DLA/PIP and UC when they are cutting jobs in the DWP is anyone's guess. !!
You may if you wish chose not to reply to this post as it's developing into a discussion, all my fault I accept.
Therefore, you may if you wish lock this thread to prevent it turning into a discussion, if not then I'll lock it for the same reason.
Kind regards.
Jim
