I've just received a letter from Jobcentre Plus asking me to confirm by signature that I started claiming Incapacity Benefit on a date in 2004 as they have lost the original claim forms in long term storage. As it happens I still have the original award letter!
Thing is, they start by saying 'Your case was recently selected by our Accuracy Team for a random check'. Should I be worried about this?

All of the major benefits have DWP teams who are responsible for randomly checking a number of claims every year, for example, for DLA it is done under the banner of the Right Payment Programme, see the following FAQ.
