I have looked at both the links given above. They refer to

'or other aid if such aid can reasonably be used'.

Could this be interpreted to include mobility scooters? If so, it seems almost impossible to gain any points on the mobilising descriptor.

No, the reference to aids and appliances takes into account walking sticks, crutches, etc., that enable a claimant to walk, not replace the act of walking, with of course as previously mentioned, the exception of a manual wheelchair.

This is confirmed in the guidance to ATOS "doctors", see section 3.2.2 of the WCA Handbook.
