No, the reference to aids and appliances takes into account walking sticks, crutches, etc., that enable a claimant to walk, not replace the act of walking, with of course as previously mentioned, the exception of a manual wheelchair.
This is confirmed in the guidance to ATOS "doctors", see section 3.2.2 of the WCA Handbook.
