DLA Home Medical and Security was created by mairit
Hi All,
I had my home visit yesterday and was left in a bit of a pickle through two separate incidents.
a) I was asked the following question: "Have you ever worked". To me the question implied that the Doctor in question must have thought I have never worked. Well, perhaps I am oversensitive but to me the question could have been worded better eg When did you last work?
b)
The second incident is that I checked on who this Doctor/Person was by the information that he gave me. He told me the address of his surgery and the distance it was approx from my own surgery. When I checked out the info, I found that the address apertained to an old surgery that had been closed for years, windows were boarded up and the building was bordering on being derelict. The telephone number listed on many sites and associated with the doctors surgery was a sort of answer machine with no message, just a bleep. The only point of contact given by the doctor in question was a mobile number.
I believe he is registered with the GMC as of 1963 and being MB Chb qualified. He is not registered on the specialist register nor is he registered on the GP Register. Now not being up to scratch on the way things swing with GMC, I would have thought if a dr was not registered as a GP then he would not have told me that he had a surgery in the first place, never mind a derelict surgery.
So, could somebody give me some help as to what I should or not do?
BTW Think this site does a sterling job!

ATOS Healthcare professionals who carry out medicals for the DWP can be doctors, physiotherapists, nurses or occupational therapists.
Doctors do not need to be specialists. You state you believe he is registered with the GMC, have you checked that he is on the GMC website ?
MB ChB are the normal letters that qualified doctors use after their name, signifying they are a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery . Some UK doctors have an MD which is a higher qualification.
If the above details are correct, then he can practice medicine in the UK. He does not have to be a GP nor to have a surgery. Many doctors work full-time for ATOS.
Please do not name this doctor in the forum for legal reasons.
