WRAG to support on reconsideration was created by Karlo
Hi all. A friend has received a letter saying after reconsidering the decision they have been placed in the support group for 6 months, they had a medical in April. Does this mean they can expect a new ESA50 form very soon?

The six months should be from the date of the Decision not the medical, however, they should expect the re-assessment process to start again several months before this.

Hi K,

It would seem so, the six months will be from the time of the decision, not the medical.

Generally the ESA50 is received a couple of months before the reassessment is due, to allow for the processing of the reassessment.

The original decision was received in June, will the 6 months go from then or from the date of the reconsideration? If it does they've effectively gone from having ESA, be it, in the WRAG for 12 months to having it halved to six months on the support group.

If that's the case it questions if its worth appealing a WRAG decision.

ESA awards are indefinite, so it is not six months in the Support Group and then nothing, it is six months in the Support Group and then a new assessment, which may leave the claimant in the SG, move them to the WRAG, or find them Fit for Work.
