In support esa Contribution can I get income Based was created by fithgear
As I said the other day have had my WRAG award changed to Support after reconsideration.
But as wee all know being in support locks us into contribution based and prevents us getting any income based halp such as cold weather payments budgetting loans etc seems a gray area.
I asked cab today Is it possible to claim both contribution and incomee based ESA as my partner is not working and no savings,
They suggested I fill in an ESA3.
But on looking at the esa 3 it mentions taking part in a work related interview and other sanctions.
My question is Would filling in this form put me at risk of lossing my ESA Support that I have just been awarded.
As even if I put a forwarding note in to explain I have filled in the form to try and get income and contribution based,The DWP may look at this as a new claim.
Any help anyone thanks.

Being in the Support Group does not 'lock you in' to contributary ESA, it simply means that there is no 365 day limit as there is when in the WRAG.
it is perfectly possible to get contributary ESA with an income-related top-up.
The ESA3 is a means 'test form to see if you are entitled to any income-related ESA, it does not start the assessment process again.

Thanks for that Mrs Hurtyback But I am ultra caucious now as I do not want to risk anything.
If there is no 365 day limit then it must mean we stay on contribution rate does it not.

As Mrs H has said, it is possible to qualify for an ESA(IR) top up to your ESA(CB), but this is dependant on your personal circumstances so we cannot give you an answer on the forum, but it will depend on how much you are receiving on ESA(CB), any income you and your partner have, your savings and assets, and if your partner work, the hours that they do.
Whilst you are in the Support Group, you will not be required to attend WFIs or to participate in Work Related Activity, but it is possible that your partner will be asked to attend WFIs if they are not working.
