Is it possible to get a dla claim backdated..? I printed off dla form from the official gov website, over a month ago and didnt realise that, apparently ,the claim date officially goes from when you telephone to request an application form or submit it on line. ?To my knowledge there was no way of logging the download of the application, on the government site. So using the internet to down load application form put me at a disadvantage.

Please do not post in capitals as it causes problems for members using screen reading software.
Under normal circumstances you cannot back date a DLA claim, however, if you request the claim forms from the Benefit Enquiry line they will be date stamped and providing you return them within the six weeks allowed, the claim will be considered as starting from the date the forms were sent out.
Benefit Enquiry Line Telephone: 0800 88 22 00 Textphone: 0800 24 33 55 Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm
