I'm sure this topic will be being debated until the end of time, but I'd be interested in people's opinions on this forum as to where a claimant stands concerniing, recorders being unavailable. So I have asked for my WCA if I have one to be recorded.

Now if they say as they may, that there's no equipment available, I have seen extracts from the DWP saying that a claimant may postpone if this is the case, how much can I dig my feet in about this? Has anyone any experience of asking for postponements.

How many people have actually had their WCA's recorded successfully and found it helped.

Whilst claimants have the right to request that their WCA assessment is recorded, ATOS say that the DWP have advised that they should not let the absense of working recording equipment stand in the way of getting assessments completed.

In practice it seems that some claimants have had the assessment rearranged without any problem whilst others have been told that the assessment must go ahead or their claim will be closed.

We have a 'spotlight' thread dealing with this as it became a 'hot topic' a while ago

Recording assessments

My own assessment was recorded easily. I cannot say whether it helped or not, I certainly found that what was written reflected what was heard on the recording.
