Where are The DWP "decision makers"physically located if known please?I mean is it for instance Wembley or Glasgow??
I hesitate to suggest it makes a difference to who "passes"the decision but perhaps there might be just a teeny weeny touch of subconcious favouritism and ultimately which country a person is surrounded by might have a bearing on their decision?
It is The DWP who decide initially if there is enough evidence isnt it on consulting EAS50s or have I got it wrong is it an ATOS guy?
Personally I would have a lot more confidence in Glasgow than Wembley but thats just because Wembley High Road-if youve strolled along it of late hardly provides the mental nourishment at lunch time for perceptive decisions re:Claimants being mostly fried chicken and burger joints variety eateries!LOL Or perhaps ATOS employees take a packed lunch?

Decision Makers are based in all DWP Benefit Delivery Centres, however, it is possible that one from another office, not your local one, will make a Decision on your claim if your office is busy.

There are also specialist groups that are more regionally located, this includes the team(s) handling the transfer of claimants to ESA from other benefits and the DLA unit in Blackpool.

The first test in the ESA process is whether the claimant meets any of the Exemption conditions, this will be done by a DM and the ATOS in-house doctor.

If they do not, then the claimants file is passed to ATOS for an ESA50 to be issued.

An ATOS doctor will then evaluate the returned ESA50 and any medical evidence to decide whether an assessment is required, it is at this point that ATOS are most likely to write to your GP for further information.

If a recommendation can be made, the file is returned to the DWP for a Decision.

If not, then an assessment is scheduled.

Please bear in mind that not all ATOS and/or DWP addresses correspond to offices, for example the ATOS address in Wembley is actually a mail drop.
