Does anybody know for certain what or if the council tax changes CTRS (Council tax reduction scheme) (lewisham, London) affects those in receipt of ESA (support Group)..?

Note: this question is not about the 'Benefit cap' or 'Under-occupation'

Council tax reduction scheme (from Lewisham council website)

From 1 April 2013 the government is replacing council tax benefit with a local council tax reduction scheme for people on low incomes.

If you are of working age you will no longer get all your council tax paid, regardless of your circumstances. This is because the government has reduced the grant it gives the Council. Pensioners will not be affected by these changes.

We do not advise on Council Tax, but if we had we would no longer be able to do so as under the new system, the scheme is specific to each council.

If you go to the council's web page they should have more information on how they are implementing the changes, who will be affect and how. Most councils are offering a discount to those on benefits, the rates vary, a few are still offering a full discount, but as I say, you will need to check with Lewisham as to how you are affected.
