Appointee at appeals

We have appealed my son's Wrag decision hoping to be placed in the Support group, but if it continues to appeal stage I am his appointee. He gets very distressed at having to meet or face people due to his mental condition and learning difficulties, will I be able to attend the Tribunal for him and speak on his behalf as I am his appointee without them asking for him to attend please, as I know he won't cope.
Thanks if anyone can help

Hi Sl,
If you are not successful at the automatic reconsideration stage, and your appeal is sent forward to The TS, you should contact them ASAP to inform them of your predicament.
Success rates for Tribunal Hearings are much improved where the appellant is in attendance.
Hopefully, if your Son is unable to attend and you are his legal appointee, they will take this into account.

Hi Sl,
You should give the TS as much information as possible regarding this.
Even though it may well be distressing to your son if he has to attend, it may well help his appeal if the Tribunal get to see first hand how he reacts.
Of course, only you will know what is best for your son.
