ESA85a

I have received the ESA85a form stating the reason for placement into the SG (not the reason I was expecting but I am not going to argue), however, the form does not state the length of time.

I rang up DWP and they stated it was the full 3 years - should this be stated on the ESA85a form or is there another letter/form to request?

I really do want it in writing that it is the SG for 3 years.

Hi MSC,

The recommended prognosis should be recorded on the ESA85A.

Sometimes it simply states "in the longer term", and it is then up to the DM on whether they give the maximum 3 years or not.

If you want written confirmation, you could make a formal request for this to The DWP ESA DM, under Data Protection Act 1998 (SAR)

Just to add to Gordon's excellent advice - the duration of the award is only advisory and does not form part of the decision. ESA is an indefinite award that can be reassessed at any time from 3 months after the original decision, although most reassessments do seem to happen mostly 'on schedule'.
