Thank you Bro58

I'll do that too - though I think I have already looked at the links you note but I will double check

Things to think about.

It is not just a question of being aware of danger it is also about taking or not taking action as a result of it, it is also being able to properly assess the level of danger, so as an example;

- if she is standing at the side of the road, correctly assesses the level of danger as being a problem but still crosses, this would be relevant to the descriptor.

- if she is aware of approaching traffic but is unable to correlate the speed of approaching vehicles to the time available to cross.

I will admit that question 16 is more of a problem and there may be other questions that offer a better fit, but it refers to social engagement, so you can certainly argue that her problems with communication may preclude this social engagement.

You may also be able to make a case under

- 14, Coping with change, can she articulate problems that would be caused by changes to her schedule

- 15, Going out, is she at risk of getting lost and being unable to tell someone where she live

- 17, Behaving appropriately, is it possible for others to interpret her problems with communication as an issue.

Thank you for the extra input - am still struggling with the wretched thing. My own health is not great and I have no one to review and ask me "but what if ?":(

I see what you mean about the traffic - I have spent years making her aware of the danger - but she is incapable of judging speed, distance and would not cross - at least I don't think so. It has never been tested as she has never been out alone.

I have spent hours at the side of the road - look there's a car - count - and we count how long it takes to get to us. OK - we count how long it takes us to cross that road. Could we have done it? But practicing with her to get her to guess the count - from there's a car - she is way out. I gave up.

I have taught her to read, count (not money though - she does not do money) - I never shut my mind to her achieving stuff - but sometimes you just have to admit - they ain't gonna get it - not ever.

Anyhow thanks again. I am going to break the back of this thing by tomorrow!
