Qualifying period for DLA was created by Motherbored21
Hi All, Son has been awarded DLA at lower rates from 11th April for 2 years. Rang them this week to be told that he has to wait until June for any payment as there is a 'qualifying period' of three months (which means he has had to have had the illness for three months before being entitled to any money).
I pointed out that forms stated he has been suffering for at least 1 year and 18 months for separate problems.
Beginning to think no-one actually reads these forms!
ESA ongoing problems are another thing entirely...
Thanks to the team here for the very informative guides. Made filling out the forms far less daunting!

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi,
Has your son had a recent worstening of his condition, or a new condition, that might have led DWP to make this decision?

Made a call to them and they confirmed, via a very nice lady, that they HAD made a clerical error and son will receive his DLA, backdated, sometime this week!
