Hi, I'm being medically retired from work and would only qualify for contributory ESA.

My pension is small at around 500 per month. What would esa be reduced by?

Also, how long can you be out of the country before you need to tell DWP and is this the same rule for DLA?

Thanks Guys.

DWP will ignore the first £85 per week of your pension, then your ESA will be reduced by 50p for each extra pound of pension above that.

You should notify DWP any time you are going to be away from home overnight, whether that is abroad or in UK.

Don't forget that contributary ESA for those in the WRAG is only paid for 365 days.
