Decision maker will phone monday? was created by Alyson Mannion
I had a medical last week as I am on Incapacity benefit and I am due to move to ESA. Today I got a phone call asking if I would be available on Monday between 11-1, also which phone number would I be on? Then I was told the decision maker from DWP will phone me then.

Is this normal procedure?

Has anyone else had this?

Do I have to spend the next 4 days panicking?

Hi,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.

This can be done quite easily by following the instructions on this FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

It is probable, but not definite that The DWP DM, is considering applying a fit for work decision as a result of your face to face assessment.

They sometimes do this to see whether you can provide any further evidence orally that may change their mind.

If it is a fit for work decision, you can appeal this, and as long as you also provide a fit note from your G.P., you will receive the assessment rate of ESA whilst appealing.

If the phone call is regarding a fit for work decision the DM may well tell you that your only option is to claim JSA. This is not true.

Please update us after the phone call, by replying to this topic, and we will provide further information, if you then need it.

Hi,

There will always be a delay between you posting and your post appearing on the forum, as all post have to be read and approved by Moderators before being published.

Therefore the delay will be dependent on how many Mods are on line, and how busy we are.

Alyson when I received my result from WCA (0) points they said they had tried to contact me by phone. It was a complete lie. I have a call logger and no such call was received. I am no expert but just be careful with verbal exchanges without a record. If possible write down what they say, tell them you are doing this. If it isn't favourable to you ask for confirmation in writing. I may be suffering from paranoia but I wouldn't trust the DWP or ATOS they are a bunch of [Mod Edit].

What sort of additional information could I give them?

Something that did occur to me is that after ceasing my teaching job in 2002 I made several attempts to restart work over the following two years and none of these were successful, I simply couldnt cope.
