Appeal was created by gigger
I receved my papers for the tribunal appeal process yesterday. I find the prospect of attending this daunting to say the least. I intend to confirm I will attend but does anyone know if I would be liable for costs If I decide later I can't face it, cancel and do not attend?
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hi g,
You can cancel your appeal hearing, without you being penalised, monetarily or otherwise.
If you were to do this, you should do so in writing to The TS dealing with your appeal, giving them as much notice as possible.
Many members have had concerns about attending a Tribunal Hearing, but have not found it as daunting as they feared.
There are only two members on an ESA appeals panel, a Doctor and a legally qualified Chair (Judge)

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Just to add to Bro58's advice.
You can also convert your Oral hearing to a Paper one, where you are not required to attend.
If you do this then you should ensure that all of your evidence is already with the Tribunal Service as you will not receive notice of the hearing, just the result.
You also need to be aware that the success rate for a hearing where the claimant attends is significantly higher than that for one where they do not.
