I completed an ESA50 (contribution based) last September but withdrew my claim in October 2012...I have now put a new claim in for ESA and Iam awaiting a new ESA50 . Unfortunately I did not keep a copy of the one I completed in September of last year, am I entitled to get this back so that I can use it to help me complete the next one I get.

You can put in a Subject access Request for all the paperwork that DWP hold relating to your claim. However, I don't know how long they would keep this for and, even if they do have it, it is entirely possible that it would not arri9ve in time for you to get the ESA50 submitted in time.

As you haven't yet had your ESA50, it is worth a try. Don't forget to keep a copy of everything this time round!

Hi bb,

This time around, you might want to use the interactive ESA50 :

Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire ,once you receive the paper one through the post.

Whilst referring to the relevant ESA Claims Guides on this page :

If it is not The "New" ESA50 01/2013 that you receive through the post, (which is the one on the download link that I provided) and it happens to be the "Old" ESA50 03/11, please let us know, and I can post a link to download that one for you.

Hi bb,

See below information on requesting personal information from The DWP.

They only tend to retain documentation for around 14 months.

Thank you for your quick response I will use the link you have suggested to get the info I need, I will in future keep copies of everything, I sent the DWP an original copy of my occupational pension entitlement and low and behold they cannot find it although it was enclosed with other documents that they received. I have now had to go to the trouble of requesting another P60 which I will copy before sending.....Will keep you updated on how my claim goes as I am sure that I fit at least one descriptor which should get me into the support group....
