After more than 5 months waiting for a response to completing a second esa claim form, I received the white envelope from atos today. 16 days and they want me to attend a face to face medical on the 20th June 2013.

Ok 5 months is a bit of a wait but is there a restriction on the time period from posting the comfirmation date/time of a medical. 16 days must be illegal.

Also can the support worker accompany me and answer questions instead of me. Is there a publication for preparing for a medical.

Hi ngu67,

ATOS only have to give 7 days notice for a face to face assessment.

You are allowed to be accompanied, and the companion is allowed to take notes, and provide input, although any questions will be primarily directed towards you.

You are allowed to rearrange an appointment once, see further details on ATOS's website :

www.atoshealthcare.com/claimants

It may be too late now, but you can request that your assessment is audio recorded.

The forum is now closed, so please repost tomorrow if you have any further queries.

thanks for the reply bro58.

Just another question: with regard to page 4 of the esa form and "does anyone else provide you with care, support or treatment"?

Besides already listing 2 hospital consultants on page 4 when I sent my form back in January, I have since been allocated a mental health support worker and they will be attending the medical with me on the 20th June 2013.

As this is an additional support professional can/should I inform ATOS of this development in writing or should I send details to the DWP?

Really would appreciate advice about this change since submitting form in January.

Hi Ngu1967,

If you wish to update your information, you could inform ATOS, at the address that your ESA50 was returned to, and as a back up send a copy, FAO ESA Decision Maker, at the Benefits Office address on any ESA related letters.

I was also going to suggest that you took a copy of the letter to the face to face and handed it to the ATOS HCP, as well, but as it seems that your new support worker will be accompanying you, one would think that this would not be necessary.
